The methods and timing for fruiting vary by grow – you can grow Reishi in polypropylene filter bags or tubs. Reishi is very interesting to grow because you can do a lot with it to affect the type of growth you achieve.
If you want to grow conks you’d give the substrate tons of fresh air – or if you wanted a flush of beautiful antlers you starve them from fresh air (Reishi is very CO2 tolerant).
If you’re looking to grow Reishi for medicinal benefits – I recommend a few small tubs, as you’ll get better yield from a tub in my opinion, and I say a few small tubs because I prefer to have my eggs in more than one basket – but I have a few bags going myself now and I prefer bags for my needs because I am growing for fun, and not to supply medicine.
If you grow in bags – don’t be surprised if your reishi grows both antlers inside the bag, and conks through the filters if you have an aggressive strain.
